FAVORITE BITTER END ADVENTURE/EXCURSION
“A little secret something the staff members used to like to do in their time off--go for a night sail. When the moon is at its fullest and brightest, we’d throw on our life jackets, crack open some glow sticks, hoist up the Hobie sails, and set off onto the dark water.”

Alyssa left her mark on BEYC watersports as the charismatic first mate and then captain on Ponce de Leon, our snorkel boat. She learned to sail growing up off the coast of Massachusetts (and once in awhile, can still be found there racing with her mom on the family J40), but she knew upon graduating college that she wanted to be in the BVI full time. So she took a job at Sail Caribbean, which introduced her to the Bitter End.

“I think a part of me always knew I would end up as part of the BEYC family,” she explains. “On one of my nights off from Sail Caribbean in 2015, I was playing pool at the pub with some co-workers. And who was I playing against? DOBBS! As we chatted about our awesome jobs and how they compared to one another, Dobbs said to me, ‘You should come work at BEYC Watersports someday.’ Little did we expect that 16 months later Dobbs and I would actually become co-workers there. And my first day on the job was the first day of the ProAm Regatta--talk about diving in head first!”

So what’s life look like for Alyssa post-Irma? You might just find her sipping rum and selling our seaworthy goods inside the Bitter End Rambler (our pop up shop) at your next boat show or Regatta!
