Sam Tobio

FAVORITE BITTER END ADVENTURE/EXCURSION
“Sailing the Hobies is always among the highlights of every trip. Hikes with Scotty and snorkeling with Captain Kinto.”

Sam Tobio is a collegiate varsity sailor at the College of Charleston, but we like to think he found his sea legs on family trips to Bitter End. He began visiting with his family at the age of 10, which is the same year he began sailing. On one of their first trips to Bitter End, the Tobio family met the Traub family, and they then continued to visit together almost every year since. During those trips, Sam would explore all that BEYC had to offer--particularly on the water. “I love being on or in the water. The beach and the ocean make any vacation ten times better. Snorkeling, surfing, SUPing, and powerboating are always enjoyable!”

While it’s clear he loves all watersports, he’s exceptionally good at sailing. Before college, he raced in the F16 Worlds and crewed in J24 regattas. Today, in addition to being part of the Varsity Offshore Sailing Team at the College of Charleston, he also frequents the U.S. Offshore and Match Racing Circuits. We look forward to seeing him show off his skills on the North Sound soon.
