BEYC Time Machine: BVI Spring Regatta
Enter the BEYC Time Machine: BVI Spring Regatta
In honor of our 50 year anniversary- we're stepping back in time with a series of vintage photographs chronicling BEYC's beginnings!
In 1973, local sailors felt it was finally time to host a regatta of their own.
Starting from just 20 boats, mostly 19-foot Squibs and Sunfish, the BVI Spring
Regatta has grown to the third-largest sailing event in the Caribbean,
attracting sailors and vessels from all over the world. Unsurprisingly, the BVI
Spring regatta launched the same year as Bitter End C's official
commissioning forging a long relationship between the club and the event.
Bitter End's crew was known to compete on 'Cosmic Warlord' pictured above,
appearing in the event for at least 7 'cosmic' campaigns, the stories of which
are still told over ice-cold drinks at The Buoy Room Bar today.
